Foodie Break - Wild and Natural

Morton of Pitmilly countryside resort has teamed up with Fife’s very own food ambassador Christopher Trotter to offer several fabulous short breaks of pure foodie heaven.

This culinary affair provides the opportunity to source wild herbs from the picturesque Fife countryside and teaches how to incorporate them into bases for soups and sauces.  You shall also have the chance to select your own seafood and roe dear from a local fishing village and dealer respectively and learn how to use both to create another gastronomic delight!

DAY 1

You will arrive in the evening to one of Morton of Pitmilly’s warm welcomes.  You will have time to get comfortable in your luxurious five-star accommodation before joining us for a welcome drink and chat over canapés to discuss the next day's events. Christopher will then prepare a simple meal for your enjoyment using fresh seasonal Fife produce.

Following breakfast, we will meet and go on a forage for some wild spring herbs including garlic nettles and sorrel which we shall later utilise as bases for our soups, sauces and condiments.

This is followed by a short drive to the quaint fishing village of Crail.  Crail is the oldest burgh in the East Neuk and with its traditional cottages nestled around the winding roads leading to the old harbour it is likely to be one of the prettiest fishing villages that you are fortunate enough to visit.  Boats still go from the harbour to fish for prawns, lobster and crab and it is from here that we will acquire fresh crab to incorporate into our evening meal.

Roe deer are available all year round in Fife and we will collect a saddle from a local dealer before returning to Pitmilly to prepare soup for our much-deserved lunch!

In the afternoon, we will begin to prepare dinner with the ingredients collected during the morning’s activities! At 5pm there is a break.  This provides the chance to explore the many leisure facilities of Pitmilly or indeed just relax. Perhaps you could have a walk along our nature trail and work up an appetite for dinner?  Later we reconvene to appreciate a tasting of fine wine.  We shall then bring our day’s work to completion and enjoy dinner complemented by the expertly selected wines - a perfect end to a perfect day.

DAY 3

In the morning there is time after breakfast to discuss with Christopher how and where to go to purchase any of the items that you have used during your stay (yes - including the wines!)  Following this, the day is your own to either depart or to indulge in a further special day and night (costing an additional £50 per person) in the beauty of the grounds here at Morton of Pitmilly.

Please contact for more information. Cost per person is £299 including 2 nights in 5 star accommodation, a breakfast hamper and Christopher's food and wine.
