Dog-Friendly Holidays in Fife

Over the years Morton of Pitmilly has proved increasingly popular as a holiday destination for dogs and their humans. Please don't take our word for it though! One of our regular customers has written about coming to Morton of Pitmilly with his family and much-loved dogs, Jessie and Max.

Our Holidays

Many of our family holidays have been spent in Devon or Cornwall. We love the beaches, towns and coastal walks. The only thing not to like is the 270-mile drive from Manchester, which is not a problem, apart from the traffic.

In 2009 our holiday travelling changed for the better, when for the first time we discovered Fife, and in particular, Morton of Pitmilly on the outskirts of St. Andrews. Surrounded by empty beaches and glorious coastal walks it was an amazing resort to stay at. One of the best beaches we have ever been to is Kingsbarns, under five minutes’ drive away from Pitmilly. Seemingly endless sand, generally only a few people on it, and most importantly to us now, dog friendly all year round! It’s Cornwall, without the crowds and much easier to get to.

Why Morton of Pitmilly?

We have been back to Pitmilly at least once a year since 2009. Their tag line is "Stay, Play, Relax" and it's hard to come up with a better description. The accommodation is 4* and 5* self-catering in a mix of sizes from 1 - 4 bedrooms, all of which are dog friendly. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to help. Driving into the car park now feels like pulling into our drive at home.

As our family has grown, we have booked for us and three young teenagers, right through to taking our children with their partners and sometimes grandparents have come too. Other times we have taken friends, whilst also enjoying breaks away for just the two of us and the dogs in-between. We have probably stayed in 80% of the houses. There is no other holiday destination we have returned to so many times.

There is lots to do at Pitmilly; outdoor activities include walks, the tennis court, the putting green, children’s play area, and even visiting their chickens. Indoors, you can enjoy the heated swimming pool, tennis court, games room, gym, and even book spa treatments.

Pitmilly has it all and more!

Dog friendly

Jessie and Max holiday with us and are part of the family, they are always welcomed at Pitmilly. Although all the accommodation is dog friendly, if you are not a dog owner you wouldn't know, as everything is kept spotlessly clean. Dogs are allowed at most places on site, with a couple of exceptions, the children's play area and swimming pool for example.
